NYOOGAWAH/WATER - Cultural Safety and Self-determination

NYOOGAWAH/WATER – (Course 1 – Modules 1-10) - Rivers and oceans hold profound meaning for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

They are not simply bodies of water but sacred places that connect people to their ancestors, provide sustenance, and define cultural identity (Irinyu, Awa, Wilu: Our Rivers, Our Water, Our Ocean – NARvis). Our CEO, Gregory Phillips says, “Nyoogawah is the source of life, gifted to us by Boodjamulla, which is one of our creator beings, the rainbow serpent in Waanyi language.”

Nyoogawah means water in the language of the Waanyi Peoples of north-west Queensland.

This flagship course covers a river of knowledges (including foundational, unlearning and solutions) across ten modules.

If you are not ready for the full free-flowing river course, you may consider learning the same knowledges broken up into three short-courses instead – see below.
