ABSTARR’s course support individuals and organisations to build genuine cultural safety, strengthen relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, and embed practices that create safer, culturally responsive workplaces.
More than cultural awareness, our courses challenge learners to examine racism, whiteness and institutional power while re-imagining systems through Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander sovereignty, knowledges and community-led solutions.
Grounded in adult-learning principles, our courses move participants from awareness to action — from charity to sovereignty — from reflection to transformation, supporting long-term confidence and professional growth. We give learners skills, confidence and practical solutions!
Your Learning Journey – Two Pathways
You can choose one of two ways to complete your learning journey.
Nyoogawah/Water is a single, immersive journey where you complete the full course (Modules 1-10) in one continuous free-flowing river course experience. This option is ideal if you’re keen to move through the program efficiently and complete it promptly. For large groups of learners, we can negotiate learner fees, and will need to discuss some preparation and precautions with your contracting organisation/lead before enrolments begin.
Alternatively, you can take a more paced approach by completing the same learning journey (and same modules) across three separate short-courses, allowing you time to reflect, practise, and integrate your learning along the way.
a. Ngaachi/Earth (Short-Course 2a – Modules 1-3) b. Wiiyn/Fire (Short-Course 2b – Modules 4-6) c. Ngurnduk/Wind (Short-Course 2c – Modules 7-10)
Both pathways offer the same learning experience and outcomes — the choice is simply how you’d like to travel the learning journey.
